Week 10 Assignment: Street Photography

This weekend I went home but there were, surprisingly, not many people at all wandering the streets of Glens Falls.

Quiz Question Number 2

This photo is a perfect example of the decisive moment due to the captive's face. If the photo had been taken one second earlier he may have not been making the face or the gun may have been in a different spot. If it was taken a second later the captive may have been killed.

Week 9 Assignment: Blue

This week we had to chose one color to focus on and make the photos focus on that color. I chose blue.

The above two photos I used a feather in front of my window and over exposed it to try to get just the blue colors.

Masks

I took extra photos during my shoot for the series project that I couldn't use but I really liked.

Week 9 Writing Assignment

For this assignment I chose artist Kunie Sugiura as I could not find the book on Barbara Morgan.

Dark Matters/Light Affairs

1. The main idea of this photography series is to go back to the beginnings of photography as well as bringing the not-now and the now together.
2. The purpose of these photograms is is to "stop time" or bring back the past of when the images were being made.
3. These ideas are expressed through the various shapes and shades of colors used as well as the compositions she makes. It is also expressed through the photographic technique of photograms rather than traditional photographs as it makes the image more personal and close-feeling.

Week 8 Writing Assignment

Fashion Forward X by Christopher Malcolm

The light is coming from the right, probably just slightly above chest level. Also the light is diffused or has a soft box on it as the light is brightest around the chest and it does not fall off quick but rather lights her face as well as her dress and feet. The soft light fits well with the photo because of the model and her dress. Her dress is soft and flowy, as well as her hair, which seem to pull together the softness of the photo with the light. Having the photo in black and white makes it more interesting because it softens the overall image as well adds a classic touch. The dress and soft lighting also help bring in the look of a classic dance photo.

Week 7 Assignment: Nature

I wasn't really sure where to go and what kind of woods/ parks/ ponds were around here so if anyone could let me know that would be great!

I've been trying to do moving water photos for a long time but I usually forget my tripod. Luckily this time I remembered to bring it and played with a really small stream and got the shot above.

I just liked the texture of the tree bark and wanted to see if I could get something up close.

The best thing about dfall is the color of the leaves against a bright blue sky. I'm a sucker for color :)

I loved playing around with the reflections in the lake, I think that's where most of my photos ended up being taken. I liked this one because the leaf was in focus and the reflection was as well, but it seems more painterly and abstract compared to the leaf.

I figured I'd try this shot, and I mostly like how it came out.
